FREE MP3'S DOWNLOADS : Actually, most full-time musicians have lots of different incomestreams - some from gigs, some from teaching, some from session work(playing on other people's recordings), some from selling their ownCD's, etc. While I wouldn't be too sure that for most of them, sales oftheir CD's are a must, I would say that *having* a CD is, in terms ofthe promotional value of having a CD.In the recent past, producing a CD was something that you could hopewould be a break-even proposition - you'd sell enough copies to offsetthe cost of all the ones given away as promotional material. In theworld of Napster, I'm not sure what happens to this equation. If itreally got the point where club owners et al were happy to go onlineevery time they wanted to check out a band's promo, then perhaps youwouldn't need a CD for promotional purposes. I'm pretty sure that timehas *not* arrived, though.
